DRUG Trends and naloxone (narcan) Distribution in Michigan & Jackson
In Jackson County, substance use has decreased across the board in 2023. Still, much like the statewide data, synthetic opioids seem to be used more than other substances, however it is important to note that such synthetic opioids as fentanyl are often cut into other substances such as cocaine or other simulants.
While great emphasis has been placed on natural and synthetic opioids such as heroin and fentanyl, the three-year graph below indicates that opioid use is trending downward while cocaine is on the rise. That said, poly-drug use as in mixing drugs together at the same time or in sequence is almost as common as synthetic opioid use.
